Your Budget, Your Categories

Most budgeting apps force you into rigid categories. IfISaved lets you create fully custom budget categories that match how you actually spend — groceries, pet expenses, date nights, whatever matters to you. Set a monthly spending limit per category and get a real-time view of how much is left.

Automatic Transaction Import

Connect your bank accounts, credit cards, and loans through Plaid to automatically import transactions. Transactions are automatically categorized and matched to your budget categories. Manual entry and CSV import are also fully supported — no bank connection required.

Key Budgeting Features

  • Custom Categories: Create and name categories to match your actual spending habits.
  • Transaction Splitting: Divide a single purchase across multiple categories (e.g. a Costco run split between groceries, household, and clothing).
  • Sinking Funds: Set aside money each month for irregular expenses like car repairs, vacations, or annual subscriptions.
  • CSV Import: Import transactions from any bank using a standard CSV file — no Plaid connection needed.
  • Spending Charts: Pie charts and bar charts show your monthly spending breakdown by category at a glance.
  • Category Trend Sparklines: See a 6-month sparkline and average spend next to each budget category so you know if this month is normal or unusual.
  • Drag-and-Drop Organization: Reorder and group your budget categories the way you think about them.
  • Merchant Tracking: Hover over any transaction to see a full merchant description pulled from your bank data.

Emergency Fund & Debt Payoff

The budget tracker is connected to IfISaved's Emergency Fund and Debt Payoff planner. Set an emergency fund target and track your progress against your linked savings accounts. For debt, model the avalanche (highest-interest-first) or snowball (smallest-balance-first) payoff strategy — and see a month-by-month timeline showing exactly when each debt is paid off and how much interest you save.

Savings Goals

Create savings goals linked to specific accounts and track progress toward each one. Whether you're saving for a down payment, a new car, or a vacation fund, IfISaved keeps your goals visible alongside your monthly budget.
